HI I'm Andrew, and this is my journey of personal development for a better lifestyle and financial freedom.
My wife and I and our children live in Brisbane, Queensland (yep, sunny one day, perfect the next).
My career journey started with working for a big 4 bank and allowed me to live in many cities and towns in Queensland, from Thursday Island to Brisbane. The latter part of my career was in financial planning, firstly as an adviser, then as a training consultant, which allowed me to travel regularly to most Australian capital cities and some regional Queensland ones, as well as several New Zealand cities and towns, and also Singapore. For holidays you can't beat your own back yard - Queensland beaches. Especially the Whitsundays!
This shot was taken in Mount Field National Park, Tasmania, while on holidays. We had a great day exploring the parks' trees and waterfalls.
My personal development goes beyond work. Here I am with my family and 4 Taekwon Do Masters, after successfully testing to VI Dan Black Belt. My next rank will be VII Dan Master.

THE PROBLEM THAT LED ME HERE: I have been working in the finance industry all my working life in many jobs. Always for working for someone else and sometimes long hours. Throughout my career I've come across a variety of managers, some very good leaders, some were just bosses, and for others it was just a job. But despite my qualifications, knowledge and experience I was let go from my last job. So what did I want to do next? Definitely not the daily grind working for someone else where they dictate how much I am paid. I needed something new, exciting, and with me in control.
THE BUSINESS THAT DIDN'T WORK: I started my financial planning journey as an adviser for a big 4 bank, then went out on my own to start my financial planning business. However, I still had licensees managing my business partners, my referrals and my income. Simply, it just didn't work out.
THE JOURNEY: Throughout my working life and various positions in my jobs, I have always been drawn to learning. The most enjoyable roles I have had, have been teaching, training, coaching and instructing. During all these times I have regularly looked for something more fulfilling and meaningful. I have read "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" by Rober T. Kiyosaki, "Seven Habits of Highly Effective People" by Stephen R. Covey, and other similar books. I even did a Mega Memory course by Kevin Trudeau. They were helpful but not quite hitting the mark.
THE SOLUTION: After losing my last job, I looked online for something a little more enriching. I didn't necessarily want finance, but I did want training of some kind because that is what I love and what I'm good at. I found an ad for Training and Development Specialist which piqued my interest. The training part was a given for me, but what struck me was the development learning. So, I applied, and here I am, learning and growing, and my own boss (subject to my wife's approval).
